How to add text to a scanned PDF
Place a new text note or answer over a scanned page, with clear limits on what that changes.
GuidesYou can add new text over a scanned PDF in AlphaPDF with the Text tool. That places an annotation on the page; it does not turn the scan’s original printed words into editable text.
Adding text is different from rewriting the scan
For a scanned form with an empty answer area, a new text annotation may be appropriate. If you need to correct the underlying scanned wording, this workflow is not a replacement for editing the source document. Do not cover sensitive information and treat the cover as secure removal.
Choose a clear placement
Identify the blank area, label or comment location before adding text. Use enough contrast and space for the answer to remain readable without covering instructions, borders or another field.
Steps in AlphaPDF
- Open the PDF in the editor and select the target page.
- Choose Text, enter the note and review typeface, size and color in Properties.
- Choose Place text on page and position the annotation. Inspect the surrounding content at a useful zoom.
- Export the intended pages with an available allowance and save the resulting PDF.
Check the result
Reopen the saved file and check wrapping, spacing and whether all characters are visible. For a form, compare each added answer with its label so nothing appears in the wrong field.
Adding text does not perform OCR, verify the answer or make a form acceptable to its recipient. Keep the source copy and follow the recipient’s instructions about completing the document.
Open AlphaPDF’s PDF editor to review the current controls, file limits and export allowance before starting.
