How to highlight a PDF for review

To emphasize a passage in AlphaPDF, select Highlight and drag across the relevant area. A useful highlight draws attention to a specific point while leaving the words beneath it readable.

Give the mark a clear purpose

Highlight the sentence, number or region the reviewer should examine. Covering an entire page makes the signal less useful. If the mark is meant to indicate a question rather than approval, explain that separately in the handoff; color alone may be ambiguous.

Use restraint with opacity

The Properties panel offers color and opacity controls. Check the highlight against the actual page background. A setting that works on white paper may be harder to read on a tinted diagram or scan.

Steps in AlphaPDF

1. Open the PDF in the editor and select the review page.
2. Choose Highlight, then review its color and opacity.
3. Drag over the intended area. Inspect the boundaries so the mark does not accidentally emphasize a neighboring line.
4. Export the relevant pages with an available allowance and save a review copy.

Check the result

Open the downloaded file and read the highlighted passage at normal viewing size. Confirm that characters and punctuation remain legible and that the mark is on the correct page.

A highlight is a visual annotation, not a change to the underlying facts or proof that somebody has approved them. Keep an unmarked original if the document must also be shared without review annotations.
