Downloaded a ZIP after splitting a PDF? Here is what to check

A ZIP download is the expected result of AlphaPDF’s Split into a ZIP mode. The archive groups the separate PDF sections for downloading. It is not an error simply because the downloaded file is not itself a PDF.

Start with the expected parts

Before opening the archive, recall the boundaries you set. For two sections you should be able to identify two PDF parts. The tool’s public synthetic example demonstrates a two-page source delivered as two one-page PDFs in a ZIP; your own section sizes may differ.

Use the files the recipient requests

Some recipients want individual PDFs rather than the ZIP container. Follow their instructions. If you wanted one complete PDF instead, return to the export settings and choose One PDF; changing the filename extension is not the right way to change the output type.

Steps in AlphaPDF

1. Save the completed ZIP download somewhere you can find again.
2. Open or extract it using your device’s archive-handling function. The exact menu depends on your device.
3. Open every PDF part and inspect its first and last pages.
4. Save the wanted parts in your working folder, then attach the checked files if separate PDFs are required.

Check the result

Compare the parts with your section list. Check for a missing final section, an unintended blank section or a boundary in the middle of a required document. Keep the ZIP or original source until you know all wanted parts are saved.

Do not delete the AlphaPDF workspace after saving only the first part. If a download appears incomplete or cannot be opened, retry the available completed download before assuming the archive is usable.
