How to remove a duplicate page from a PDF

Identify a repeated page, remove the unwanted copy and verify that no unique content disappeared.

Guides
AlphaPDF delete controls with a synthetic example document.

Remove an accidental duplicate by selecting the unwanted page in AlphaPDF’s page rail and using the page Delete control. Compare the copies first: two pages with the same heading may contain different information.

Confirm it is really a duplicate

Inspect dates, totals, handwritten additions and continuation lines. A blank reverse side or repeated instruction sheet may be intentional. If the recipient specifies a required packet, use that requirement to decide whether a page belongs.

Distinguish a page from a workspace

The editor’s page Delete control removes a page from the working document. Deleting a job in Recent documents is a different action affecting the stored workspace. Use the page control for this task.

Steps in AlphaPDF

  1. Open the PDF in the editor and inspect both suspected copies in the large preview.
  2. Select the unwanted page in the rail, then choose the toolbar control titled Delete page.
  3. Check the new page count and the pages on either side of the removed copy. Use Undo immediately if you removed the wrong page.
  4. Export One PDF with an available allowance and save it as a new, identifiable copy.

Check the result

Compare the final page count with the source count minus the number of pages you intended to remove. Read across each edited boundary to ensure a continuation page was not mistaken for a duplicate.

Do not delete your only source copy while deciding what belongs. Removing a page cannot establish that the remaining document meets a recipient’s requirements.
