How to place a typed signature mark on a PDF
Use the Type option for a visible signature mark, position it carefully and confirm the recipient accepts that format.
GuidesAlphaPDF’s signature tool can place a typed visible mark on a PDF. First confirm that the recipient accepts this kind of mark. The free workflow is not identity verification or certificate-backed signing.
Choose the correct signature method
A request for a visible signature is different from a request for a particular certificate or signing service. Follow the recipient’s instructions before modifying the document. This guide makes no claim about legal acceptance.
Inspect the target area
Find the correct signature line and check whether a date or printed name is also requested. Avoid covering instructions or placing the mark on a similar-looking line intended for someone else.
Steps in AlphaPDF
- Open the PDF through AlphaPDF’s signature tool and select the appropriate page.
- Choose Sign, then the Type option in the Signature properties. Enter the mark you intend to place.
- Choose Place typed signature. Use Select to position it and the resize control to fit the available space.
- Export with an available allowance and save a new copy.
Check the result
Reopen the downloaded PDF. Check the page, spelling, size and placement, plus any other fields the recipient requires. Confirm that the original wording remains readable around the mark.
A typed mark does not authenticate the person who added it. If the recipient requires a different signing method, use that method instead of treating the visible mark as equivalent.
Open AlphaPDF’s signature tool to review the current controls, file limits and export allowance before starting.
