File handling and security

AlphaPDF processes documents on the server. This page explains application controls; it does not certify infrastructure or backup practices.

Access to documents

Free editor downloads are checked against the owning account or browser session. Premium inputs and outputs belong to an account. Keep your account and browser session secure. These checks are not a promise that infrastructure or administrative staff can never access stored data.

Retention and deletion

Premium jobs offer 1, 7 or 30 days, starting at job creation in UTC; the default is 7 days. Downloads do not restart the clock. Unsubmitted staged uploads have a separate 24-hour lifetime. Expiry and physical cleanup are separate: a scheduled purge removes expired job files. Exact physical removal time and backup erasure are not guaranteed here.

Download and inspect all wanted outputs before deleting a job. Finished or failed jobs can be deleted by their owner. Active jobs must first be cancelled; cancellation alone does not delete files. Job and security metadata may remain separately from the document files.

The free editor does not offer the Premium retention selector. Use Documents to delete free editor jobs after saving your copies; no 1/7/30-day automatic deletion promise is made for those files.

Passwords and certificates

Document passwords and certificate material are not included in job history. This is different from a guarantee about all infrastructure logs. Send passwords separately from protected documents.

Before sharing

Review converted files and remove information you do not want to share. Covering text with a shape is not secure redaction. Reader-enforced PDF permissions are not digital-rights management.
